Sustainable Reclamation Program

In addition to the Environmental Policy, in order to fulfill the commitment to implement the Sustainable Reclamation Program, PT. Refined Bangka Tin (RBT) announced the initiative "Green for Good" (http://greenforgood.rbt.co.id) a land conservation program to revive land functions that have been declared unproductive again.

As one of the steps to prevent re-mining due to unavailability of alternative income source, the program is expected to provide value and benefits to the local community (Community Empowerment). Initiatives that are in line with government policy in maintaining environmental sustainability, food security, and climate change are of international concern.

The program will cover a wide range of categories, including land conservation, agriculture, environmental education and agribusiness, with support from various stakeholders.

PT Refined Bangka Tin (RBT) is committed to implementing the Sustainable Reclamation Program by planting forest and food crops that are economical and safe to consume in order to revitalize or restore the function of unproductive land.

This Sustainable Reclamation Effort is a measure to prevent re-mining due to the unavailability of alternative income sources - RBT Sustainable Reclamation Program aims to teach farming and provide alternative income sources for community life around the mining area.

Bangka Belitung, Indonesia, August 15, 2017 - PT Refined Bangka Tin (RBT) announces Sustainable Reclamation Program "Green for Good", this program is a land conservation program to restore the function of unproductive land. Engage with local communities and other stakeholders such as governments, security forces, NGOs and national and international organizations. The Sustainable Reclamation Program also aims to provide an alternative source of income for communities around the mine.

As one of the largest tin producers in Indonesia running the Sustainable Reclamation Program, RBT will restore 50 hectares of ex-mining land to be used as a land conservation, agriculture, agro-tourism and eco-education area that teaches farming and environment-friendly . RBT also wants to ensure that all mining activities are managed by promoting environmental interests. This effort is a testament to RBT's commitment to preserving the environment and supporting government efforts to prevent climate change.

Management of PT Refined Bangka Tin (RBT), said "We want to be the initiator of Sustainable Reclamation by revitalizing the land and making the land useful for the local community. In accordance with the typical slogan of Bangka Belitung, Bumi Sepintu Sedulang or gotong royong, RBT wants to invite all businessmen and tin industry in particular, also local community to join in this movement and support government policy in food and energy independence and environmental sustainability.", As an initial step initiated by PT Refined Bangka Tin (RBT), the status of the land is planned to be changed to Village Habitual Use (HGU), in accordance with the government's call for a sustainable reclamation program. On an area of 50 hectares in Desa Penyamun, Kabupaten Bangka will be developed by RBT as a pilot program based on research. These lands will be developed into agricultural productive land with economically valuable food crops such as key oranges, rice, tomatoes, melons, bananas, peppers, chillies, pineapples, papaya, dragon fruit, mangoes, corn, long beans and watermelons. The results can be duplicated or developed elsewhere, as well as being an attractive reference for agro-tourism and eco-education for the community.

Chairman of the Indonesian Timah Exporters Association (AETI), Jabin Sufianto said "AETI provides support to the RBT Sustainable Reclamation Program that emphasizes the future of planet Earth, human well-being in it and contributes to the country simultaneously and benefits the local community after the tin mine goes through its production. This is in accordance with our aspirations to realize the tin industry that promotes environmental sustainability, or Green Mining."

The RBT Sustainable Reclamation Program has been in line with the government's call for mining actors on reclamation and post-mining to organize, restore and improve the quality of the environment and ecosystem in order to function again.
